Root rings are our signature design pieces. With an organic ebb and flow to them, and a shape that fits a hand's natural contours, these rings look like something that came from the ground.

This is why we often use raw stones in this series- natural, uncut gemstones that came from the ground in their own form and have been set into the body of the design where they fit best. This particular stone is a 12x8mm river sapphire, softly blue/brown/gray, dredged from the Missouri River in Montana, USA. That pebbly look you see is simply from years of riverbed wear. This stone is completely natural- no heating, faceting, drilling, or irradiating.

The central sapphire is accented with a faceted princess cut teal sapphire. The ring is cast in recycled sterling silver, handmade in our Northern Michigan foundry. It measures 14.5mm at the widest part of the band 9mm at the narrowest part, and is shaped squarish to fit better.

Currently fits an 8-8.5 comfortably. Sorry, but this ring cannot be sized due to the design of the band. We would be happy to make you a custom original in your own size, however!

This is a One of a Kind item.

This item is part of the Following Collections

The Organic Collection

Swirling eddies of water, broken bits of twig, the foam on the edge of a tidal pool... these are forms repeated in the Organic collection. Lines that appear to have grown on your finger, soft and hard edges in contrast to our brick and sawmill confined lives.

This design line often overlaps other lines, such as the Root Ring or the Raw Gemstones. You might be surprised at how comfortable these are to wear, with beveled inside shanks on the rings, sandblasted or satin brushed backs on necklaces, and a bend towards the softened line. There are often little hidden 'treasure' stones sprinkled throughout the pieces.

The Root Collection

Root Rings grow in many different directions, but somehow unify into a piece of wearable, organic art. They can be studded with gemstones, melted bits of contrasting metal, or simple and plain.

Each Root ring is formed from pieces of wax leftover from other design processes. The steps that we take to achieve the unique textures and lines are our trade secret. No two will ever be remotely alike. We believe these are collector pieces.

Custom work in this line is welcomed, but unpredictable as to the finished look. We can constrain some parameters, such as width and finger size, or what stones are set, but the rest is a completely organic process. If you are adventurous enough for that- you may be the proud owner of your own Root Ring someday!
