Dark and Stormy Lightning Ridge Opal Ring

Delectable shades of violet, lavender, and blue swirl in this stunning 4.28 carat opal. This color play can only be found in the famed Lightning Ridge area of Australia. The deep gray matrix lends a smoky background to the flashes of color, and there is a little inclusion of ironstone in the very center of the cabochon. 

We picked an equally unique lavender sapphire from the Umba region of Tanzania. Delicate lavender in color, it weighs 0.93 carat and was faceted into a freeform step-cut polygon. Sarah knew both stones needed a setting that is off the beaten path but still showcases the stones, so she sculpted this asymmetrical ring to wrap around the opal, sapphire, and diamonds.

One side of the ring is open, featuring a split shank that flows into the opal mounting. The sapphire and diamonds nestle against this, finished with beaded silver and three tiny princess cut diamonds that weigh a total of 0.08ct. All stones are natural and untreated. Design 2026 Sarah J Christenson
